Safe Streets is a program of Prevention and Recovery Services located in Topeka, Kansas. Safe Streets was founded in the fall of 1995 with the mission of creating a healthier community by addressing substance abuse and crime through prevention education and citizen empowerment. The vision of Safe Streets is “Peace in the Neighborhood.”
This vision is continuously pursued through several ongoing efforts. From setting up neighborhood watch groups, supporting youth involvement in the community, encouraging community mobilization, and forming the Safe Streets Coalition to address crime and safety concerns, Safe Streets work in the community is ever-changing.
National Night Out 2014!
Thank you to everyone for for your support of Topeka/Shawnee County's National Night Out on Saturday, August 9! We had more than 60 neighborhoods and an anticipated 10,000 people participate! The purpose of National Night Out is to get neighbors talking to one another and invested in their neighborhood, thus reducing opportunity for criminal activity.
