Safe Streets is a program of Prevention and Recovery Services located in Topeka, Kansas. Safe Streets was founded in the fall of 1995 with the mission of creating a healthier community by addressing substance abuse and crime through prevention education and citizen empowerment. The vision of Safe Streets is “Peace in the Neighborhood.”
This vision is continuously pursued through several ongoing efforts. From setting up neighborhood watch groups, supporting youth involvement in the community, encouraging community mobilization, and forming the Safe Streets Coalition to address crime and safety concerns, Safe Streets work in the community is ever-changing.
National Night Out Coming Soon!
National Night Out is August 9! This nationwide event is an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other and take a stance against crime. A good neighbor is one of the best crime deterrents available. This event is celebrated locally at the neighborhood level, with more than 60 neighborhoods expected to participate.
